In the opening ceremony, Mr. Lee shared his motto, “Never forget, never give up”, and hoped the younger generation would learn more about the history of letterpress printing at the Printing Art Gallery. The Curator, Mr. Stanley Wong (anothermountainman), also encouraged young people to share the passion of Mr. Lee.
To mark the occasion, Youth Square also hosted the first workshop on the same day in which Mr. Lee Chak Yue gave first-hand accounts of the local printing industry in the letterpress era and engaged participants from local institutions to rediscover its beauty by creating art piece with the antique metal type and paint.
The Printing Art Gallery opens every day from 8:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. on the 5th floor of Youth Square. Printing Art Gallery will host a series of Letterpress Printing Art Workshop from February 2013 and admission is free. Workshop will feature a guided tour and letterpress printing art DIY session.
