The “Youth Docent Ambassadors Programme” has received widespread support and acclaim since its first launch. This year, Youth Square will continue nurturing young people who are interested in history, art and docent industry, strengthening their knowledge and skills in the areas and promoting the popularisation of Chinese culture by introducing “Youth Docent Ambassadors Programme 2025”. Building on a series of thematic training, museum and themed exhibition visits, and docent practice opportunities, the new edition will also incorporate mindfulness exercises. The aim is to deepen their understanding in culture, art, history, and the docent profession, enhance young people’s self-awareness and art appreciation skills, further advancing the development of docent and cultural arts industries in Hong Kong.
Programme Highlights
The programme will provide practical training courses for youths, covering topics such as Chinese art history development and artifact appreciation, docent knowledge and public speaking skills. In addition to theoretical lectures, participants can also explore the history of Dunhuang through Dunhuang Academy, visit Hong Kong Palace Museum, Hong Kong Heritage Museum and Youth Square, observe those precious exhibits in person, and engage in on-site docent training and practice.
Additionally, the element on “mindfulness” is introduced this year. Through foundational introductions and mindfulness exercises, it is designed to enhance young individuals' self-awareness in daily life, as well as their ability to appreciate art. This initiative also promotes the mental wellness of modern youth. Upon completion of the training, participants will have the opportunity to become Youth Docent Ambassadors and put their knowledge into practice.
