Reading Beyond the Pages!

To further promote a culture of reading, the nation announced this year the designation of the last week of April as “National Reading Campaign Week”, complementing “Hong Kong Reading for All Day” on 23 April. These initiatives encourage people to embrace reading, develop lifelong reading habits, and experience the enjoyment, inspiration and knowledge that reading brings.

Against the backdrop of a growing city-wide emphasis on reading, VR Reading Experience reimagines reading by combining literature, digital technology and interactive experience to create an inspiring and innovative platform for young people. 

Through innovative elements including e-reading, AI-related interactions and VR experiences, participants can explore the joy of reading from different perspectives. By stepping into a world where reality and virtual mixed, participants can discover the unique synergy between technology and culture, broaden their horizons, and discover limitless possibilities of reading!

Diverse Reading Space

Featuring a reading zone with physical books and e-books, alongside a display of 3D books, this interactive reading space allows participants to explore the world of literature from different angles. Through the integration of visuals, technologies and interactive experiences, participants can engage deeply with stories and ideas, enhancing their reading journey and unlocking the boundless potential of reading.

Reading Personality Quiz

Unlock your reading personality through a fun AI-powered interactive quiz! Upon completion, participants will receive a personalized “Reading Personality Card” and a curated booklist tailored to their interests, helping them to find the next great read and begin a new reading journey.

In addition, this programme features limited-time VR reading experiences and creative workshops, offering youths the opportunity to explore the fascinating intersection of innovative technology and traditional culture.

VR Reading Experience

Put on a VR headset and embark on a reading adventure beyond imagination. Featuring two exciting themes — Classic Fairy Tales and Sci-Fi Adventures, this interactive experience blends traditional reading with virtual reality technology, transforming stories from printed pages into engaging sensory journeys to bring literature to life like never before.

Paper Art Workshops

Four paper art workshops will be held on 5 and 19 September 2026 (Saturdays), allowing participants to transform reading-inspired ideas into unique paper art handicrafts.

Hardcover Bookbinding Workshop

Date: 5 September 2026 (Saturday)

Session 1: 10:00am – 1:00pm

Session 2: 2:30pm – 5:30pm

Language: Cantonese

Content: Beginning with the traditional art of bookbinding, participants will discover the history and structure of handmade books. Through paper folding, page sewing, and hardcover crafting, they will create their unique notebook while experiencing the joy of traditional craftsmanship and reading culture.

Participants: Youth aged 12-29 are given priority

Paper Craft Lamp Workshop

Date: 19 September 2026 (Saturday)

Session 1: 11:00am – 1:00pm

Session 2: 2:30pm – 4:30pm

Language: Cantonese

Content: Using layered paper-cutting techniques with soft lighting effects, participants can create an enchanting fairy tale-inspired paper lamp. Let the warm glow illuminate an imaginative world while discovering the creative interplay between reading, art and handicraft.
