The competition aims to develop students’ interest in Chinese history and culture and inspire them to explore the history, arts and culture of Dunhuang. Through artistic creation, appreciation of unique Chinese cave paintings, participants can better understand Chinese history and the development of arts. The competition can also enrich young people’s passion in arts and culture and raise their awareness in cultural conservation. It is a great platform for participants to illustrate the essence of Dunhuang arts and culture in their creative forms. 
About Dunhuang Color Book:
The Dunhuang Color Book is a collaborative project designed by the Dunhuang Ambassadors who joined the Learning Trip organized by the Youth Square. The color book will showcase a collection of artworks created by the Dunhuang Ambassadors and the winning entries from the drawing competition. The drawings will be tied together by a creative story about Dunhuang. The color book will be printed and distributed to primary students (from Primary 4 to Primary 6) to further promote and pass on the arts and culture of Dunhuang.

Application Deadline:
Application Submission (Competition): 24 Apr 2018 (Tuesday)
Artwork Submission (Competition): 25 July 2018 (Wednesday)
Participants may create drawings in 1 of the following themes and provide titles and brief descriptions for their entries. Completed Form 2 should be submitted to teachers-in-charge (refer to Form 2 for details). 
1. With reference to composition and narratives used in the illustration of "Sutra Tableau", draw picture about a day in your campus. 
2. From the perspective of a secondary student, draw a cave painting with the theme of Dunhuang to promote the culture of Dunhuang to the Hong Kong public.

Regulations and Points to Note:
1. Selected entries will be printed in the Dunhuang Color Book and be distributed to primary schools around Hong Kong, targeting at Primary 4 to Primary 6 students, to promote and pass on the arts and culture of Dunhuang.
2. All entries must be submitted through schools.
3. There is no limit on the number of participants per school. All entries from the same school should be submitted in one batch.
- schools and participants should complete the following forms:
- Form 1 should be completed by teacher-in-charge of the school and submitted to the organizer on or before 24 April 2018.
4. Form 2 should be completed by participant and submitted to the teacher-in-charge together with his/her original artwork and digital file. Forms and the entries will be sent to the organizer on or before 25 July 2018.
5. Each participant can only join the competition once and submit one entry. 
6. Entries should be the original works by participants and not infringe any copyrights.
7. Submissions after application deadline are not accepted. All the submission and related materials will not be returned and revised.
8. Decision made by the panel of judges shall be final. 
9. The organizer owns the copyrights of all entries and has the rights to use, amend and distribute all entries for education and non-profit activities. 
10. Youth Square and Education Bureau reserve the right to alter the details of the activity. Should there be any dispute, the decision of Youth Square and Education Bureau should be final.
1. Artworks should be in A4 size (about 21cmX29.7cm); 
2. Hand-drawn or digital works are accepted; 
3. Original copy must be submitted if the artworks are hand-drawn. Photocopy and colour copy are not accepted; 
4. Digital artworks should be saved as JPEG or PDF format. For submission of large size digital files, files can be uploaded on Cloud drive (e.g. Google Drive / Sendspace / Dropbox / We Transfer, etc.) and download link should be provided. 
1. Submit school application form (Form 1): 
Teachers-in-charge are advised to send the completed Form 1 to the organizer before the application deadline (24 April 2018). 
2. Submit student application form (Form 2): 
Teachers-in-charge are advised to submit the original / scanned copies of students’ drawings together with all applications form (Form 2) before the artwork submission deadline (25 July 2018). 
- For submission of hand-drawn work: please put student’s name, class and school name at the back of the entry. 
- For submission of digital file: please use student’s name and class as file name, e.g. ChanTaiMan_F3. 
3. Please send the Form 1 and Form 2 by email to ysmarketing@youthsquare.hk or by post to Room 706, Youth Square, 238 Chai Wan Road, Chai Wan, Hong Kong (Strategic Planning & Marketing Department) with subject 
Youth Square “Dunhuang Drawing Competition” on or before application deadline.
